Louise-Curley

Louise graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours in 2007. After practising as a registered pharmacist in community pharmacy, Louise completed her PhD with Associate Professor Bruce Russell and Professor Ian Kirk at the University of Auckland in 2012. Her current research has two main streams; one focus is on using imaging methodologies and cognitive neuroscience to investigate areas of drug abuse, drug dependence and mental health disorders. Recent examples of work in this area include the development of novel tasks to explore risk-based decision making and the exploration of electronic gaming machine use and decision-making.

The second focus is an interest in pharmacy practice and health services research as it relates to pharmacy services. In addition, Louise has a passion for teaching, and has been involved in teaching into the Bachelor of Pharmacy since 2009. She has conducted a range of studies on the use of innovative teaching methods, where she has used both quantitative and qualitative methodologies to evaluate the innovative methods.

Louiseā€™s collaborators span the School of Pharmacy, the Departments of Psychological Medicine and Psychology and internationally, having a productive collaboration with Melbourne University and with the Universities of Otago and Huddersfield.
