ADHD medication use and suicide risk

There is a suggestion that use of ADHD medication such as methylphenidate may be linked with increased suicide risk. This is important as there has been increasing use of ADHD medication in New Zealand across all ages. We have been awarded funding to investigate this possible link, using NZ healthcare databases. We will be conducting this work in 2021; the findings of which will be significant to informing future healthcare and ADHD management
