I am a Professional Teaching Fellow and the Academic Director of the Bachelor of Pharmacy programme at the School of Pharmacy. I come to the School’s Teaching and Learning (SOTL) STRonG Research Group from a teaching and curriculum design background after previously working in South and Central Auckland as a teacher and working as a Ministry of Education facilitator in Auckland and Northland.  I have worked for the University of Auckland since 2009 in a range of teaching, curriculum, management and staff academic development roles in programmes including the BEd, BHSc and BPharm.

My current research interests explore:

  • how to support development of culturally safe and inclusive pharmacists and health professionals through the design and delivery of person-centred curricula;
  • effective teaching interventions and blended learning approaches within tertiary programmes and hospital settings to support transfer of learning of inter-disciplinary professional competencies into health care settings.

Current research projects:

Co-investigator: Evaluating Students’ Perceptions of the Introduction of Visual Thinking Strategies into the BPharm Programme UAHPEC#019176

  • 3 year online questionnaire-based study to evaluate the experiences of BPharm students involved in “Learn to See, See to Learn” (Visual Thinking Strategies) teaching sessions at Stage 2 of the BPharm to develop professional competencies.
