Huge congratulations to a number of School of Pharmacy academics who have been successful in the 2021 Marsden and HRC rounds.
Associate Professor Darren Svirskis is co-PI with Professor Bronwen Connor on a Marsden Funded project ‘Reprogrammed dopamine cells in three-dimensional microspheres to treat Parkinson’s Disease’.
Associate Professor Jo Barnes has been awarded an HRC Activation Grant for her project: “Towards a natural health products and medicines census for New Zealand” and Jo Hikaka has been awarded an HRC Activation Grant for her project: “Access pathways to residential aged care for Māori and non-Māori” which is being undertaken through Waitematā District Health Board.
Jo Hikaka has also been awarded a prestigious HRC Knowledge Translation Grant, which will allow her to share findings from her PhD research into Māori older adults’ experiences of medicines and pharmacy services.
And last, but not least, Jay Gong has been awarded an HRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship to undertake his PhD research on “Persistent opioid use and opioid-related harm after surgery and trauma”. Jay’s PhD supervisors are Dr Amy Chan (main), Professor Alan Merry (co) and Associate Professor Peter Jones (co).
