Sachin-Thakur

I am a lecturer in the School of Pharmacy specialising in stimuli-responsive drug delivery platforms. I completed my PhD at the University of Queensland in 2016, after which I moved to the University of Auckland to pursue a role as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Following on from this, I commenced my current role in early 2019. My early research focused on ocular drug delivery with a specific focus on posterior eye ailments. I have supervised projects evaluating a wide range of delivery systems and formulation strategies including liposomes, microbubbles, polymeric nano-/microparticles, microemulsions, cyclodextrins, and hydrogels. On the stimuli front, I am most interested in utilising ultrasound as a means to both target and enhance drug delivery through various physiological barriers.

My current research continues my interest in ultrasound-responsive drug delivery systems as I explore their applications in a broad range of organ systems. Apart from core formulation science, I am also interested in developing models to assess the performance of drug delivery systems at the in vitro and ex vivo level.
